Michael Bublé

If you don’t me very well then you don’t know about my new obession with youtube music videos. When I need a break from life I just go to the computer and start watching youtube videos. One of my favorite musicians is Michael Buble. Michael has a one of a kind type of voices. I feel like he is singing to me…I don’t know what it is but when he sing it is as if he puts a spell on me. It reminds me of the scene in Bye bye Birdie when Birdie sings to everyone:

Since we are speaking about Bye Bye Birdie I must say I think High school musical is a somewhat knock off of it 😉

Back to Michael…One of my favorite songs of his is Haven’t Met you yet. The music video is quite entertaining. I am still trying to figure out how they come up with these strange scenarios for their videos. In “Haven’t met you yet” Michael is in a grocery store going up and down the aisle. He is singing about a girl that he is in love with, but just hasn’t met her yet. He is dreaming about her as he sings and dances in the store. At one point he is in a bed that is on wheels going down the aisles. That is the part when it gets strange. Besides the strangeness in the video I really like the song.

Enjoy!

A productive day

I am not sure it is legal to have a productive day on vacation, but I am a rule breaker so of course I have been busy at work. This morning I slept in a little as someone should on vacation. I made my sister and I some coffee and then I hit the streets for a run. I ran down to target to buy a water bottle and a few other products. There is something about target. I feel at home and peace anytime I am in one. Between there and back it was a good 3 mile run. It sure was hot out there. I was thinking man it feels like I am back in Africa…wonderful!

After my short trip to target I got ready to go down to the beach. It was a successful relaxing day. No rescues had to be made….thankfully my mom pretty much stayed out of the ocean. My sister and I spent alot of time together today. It was really nice. We laid out and listened to music. I introduced her to Jack Johnson (the music not the person…I wish). My mom pretty much chilled with a friend that she met the previous year. They caught up on life from the past year. My mom is too funny. David (my brother) and his friend Caleb (I call him my brother from another mother) caught a giant blue crab. I pulled out my handy dandy i-pod touch and got them to do a commentary on their catch. They were too cute. I read through a couple of chapters of one of my books for my marriage and family class. I am learning so much and so thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for everything is being united in Him again.

We then cooked dinner and ate. I made a special dessert for everyone…Brownies! No they were not hash brownies either. The night ended when I took up trying to fight my dad. Needless to say I am thankful it was my dad otherwise I would have had to put the boxing gloves on and beat him…but since it was my dad I let him keep his dignity and allowed him to beat me (not really I need to take a self defense class).

My mom was almost lost at sea

So today was another exciting day! Recently I have found myself in emergency situations. There was the bonfire incident, work of course, and then today…After eating my cereal, drinking my cup of coffee, and getting sunscreened up I headed down to the beach. My backpack was filled with a few books in it mainly about marriage and family for my J-term class. My mom was my only beach buddy this morning. We sat and talked for a while and then her being the water bug she was set out for the ocean. I joined her shortly after her departure from me. As i was heading in she signaled for me to bring her noodle out to her to help her float. Being the wonderful, godly daughter that I am I obeyed her ;). The water was freezing when I first got in. Once in though it seemed to warm up a bit. The current was strong and my bathing suit top was not so I decided to head back to the sand in order to to expose anyone that was on the beach to my top coming off with a wave. I picked up one of my books and was about 4 pages into reading when all of the sudden I heard coming from the direction of the ocean, “Help! Monica Help me!” I looked up and there was my mom calling me in distress. I have been on high alert since the bonfire…so all of the sudden I wasn’t even thinking I threw my glasses off and held my top and went and dove in the ocean and started swimming out to my mom. Thankfully there were some people close to her that went out and brought her in some. She wasn’t drowning…what had happened was an undertow was taking her out to sea. After being pulled back in by these strangers she started drifting back out again. I had to go out, get her, and walk her back to the chairs. Once we got back to the chairs we both took a sign of relief. Our hearts were beating so hard and fast. My mom said it was one of the scariest things. I agree with her. After that brief incident we all stayed out of the water. I enjoyed telling the story to the rest of my family. My brother said he even heard my mom yelling half way down the beach.

We ended up fixing hamburgers for dinner tonight. Oh my meat is delicious! We ate out at the pavilion. We love eating there because we can fix our own food (cheap) and we get to eat by the ocean. Tonight there were many families down there cooking food and eating at the tables set up. One of the families had music playing. It was old school music but I like it. One song came on and I asked my dad to dance with me but he turned me down. I can say I have been rejected now. A few songs later my girl came on…i had my mom to dance with me since no one else would. She agreed so we danced. It was so funny i just laughed thinking the people here probably think i am crazy but hey i will never see them again so why not have a good time and allow them the opportunity to laugh too.

It was a good day. Still had its up and downs but that is life and it is all a blessing. All i can say is : I LOVE MY LIFE.

Arriving to Florida

Today has been an adventurous day. Starting out my day was a trip to the AT&T store. Last night my phone just stopped working correctly. I have had it for less then 6 months and am already have problems with it. Of course it stops working the night before i must go on vacation. Jessica and i did everything to try to make the phone work. I took the battery out…I took the sims card out…I turned the phone off. For our last resort Jess and I even laid hands on the phone and prayed over it in Jesus name. Morning came and it still wasn’t working so I awoke to my alarm going off for about the 5 millionth time from me pressing the snooze button for about 2 hours and not even knowing it. Once I arrived at the store the lady gave me a card and told me I needed to call the number on the card. I asked her how I was suppose to call the number and she was like I guess you are going to have to buy a phone…I did. I bought another phone so I could call customer and tell them that my other phone was broken and to send me a new one, plus I needed a phone to get in contact with people as they are picking me up from the airport.

Once I arrived home I plugged the new phone and and called customer service. A woman with a monotonous voice answered and asked for my account information. The problem is I am on a family plan with my friend Bettie. He number was in the broken phone which i don’t have access to. After telling the woman my story she was like well the only thing I can do is tell you to turn the phone off, take the battery out, put the battery back in, and turn it back on. Other then that I can’t help you. I was like what? She was like yep that’s all I can do for you at the moment, so tell me what is wrong with your phone. I told her I was going to have to let her go so that I could get my thoughts together (yes I was angry). (the phone issue has still not been resolved)

Once I got on the vision airlines planes I looked around and realized it was a plane full of kids and oh then there were a few adults. In fact the flight attendant counted and there were 22 babies on board. It was like a circus on that plane. At one point of the flight all of the babies were crying at the same time. I looked at the girl sitting next to me and asked if any of them were related to her. She said no and I was like this is good birth control. Her and I then started talking and found out that we work at the same place. It was good getting to talk to another nurse. She then became my partner in crime. After the plane landed we went to get our luggage that had been placed under the plane. As we were walking over to get it these people started screaming at us you can’t be over there. This lady came and stuck her hand in the girl’s face and was like ummmm I’m gonna need you to step over there. We then just went in the building to baggage claim. 45 minutes we were able to claim our non-checked baggage.

Soon after claiming my luggage I walked outside to meet my dad. We then drove to pizza hut, picked up the pizza, and drove to the condo. After eating we went to walmart to buy groceries for the week. Let’s just say going grocery shopping has become my thing after going to the markets in Africa. I love going at least down the produce isle…the sad thing is now I organize everything including the groceries as they go in the cart. The list was split up so my mom and I had items to get and my brother and brother from another mother had another list of items. One of the items on my list was meat. As I was looking at the meat I asked the guy working at walmart which one was the leanest. As he was telling me I noticed that the meat told if it was lean of not. This is how our conversation went:

meatguy: so the green label means it is the fattest meat. There is so much grease. you don’t want to get that. The red label means the good kind.

me: But the green package says lean meat on it. I thought the more lean the less fat and less grease.

meatguy: Ok are you working in the meat department. No they got me working here so i know what I am talking about.

me: ok how about this purple label it says extra lean. I think they have the meats in order so the leanest is at the top.

meatguy: Umm you know what I think I made a mistake. I think you are right. The leanest is at the top with the fattest at the bottom.

me: it is ok we all make mistakes.

This conversation with this guy just blessed my heart. He was so confident in his knowledge of meat telling me he was the one that worked in the meat department. It just made me laugh…oh and it made my day. All that flying and shopping wears an ole girl like me out these days. On that note I am going to be hitting the bed.

p.s. we all survived the rapture. You all know if I’m not gone then it wasn’t real 😉
